Play Synopsis

The year is 1880 and Louisa has agreed to meet with a group of people who are curious about her life. From her parlor at Orchard House in Concord, Massachusetts, she speaks about the people she admires and the significant and serendipitous events which influenced her life and work. The text is drawn from Alcott’s diary writings, letters and journal entries along with excerpts from her book, Hospital Sketches, in which she describes her experience as a nurse during the Civil War. A unique, humorous and intimate portrait of this beloved author presented in her own words.
